Do you think that you’ve been discriminated against in the housing market? The Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center may be able to help. GNOFHAC conducts investigations into fair housing violations. When necessary, the GNOFHAC helps its clients through the process of filing a complaint with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, or filing a lawsuit in state or federal court.

The federal Fair Housing Act protects you from discrimination based on:

  • Race
  • Color
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • National Origin
  • Disability
  • Familial Status (having children)

In Orleans Parish there are additional protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identification, marital status, age and creed. Learn more about the Fair Housing Act here.

The Fair Housing Act also protects you against discrimination in mortgage lending and mortgage modification scams. Learn more about our Report Foul Play in Lending Campaign here and report suspicious practices for investigation and enforcement.

We need volunteers to help with our civil rights work!
