GNOFHAC October Events!

Posted on 13. Oct, 2016 by

Help Us Take Our Youth Programming Across Louisiana

Please join GNOFHAC staff, as well as councilmembers Jared Brossett, LaToya Cantrell and Susan Guidry on October 19th from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Eiffel Society for a very special event to help us extend the reach of our youth programming.

Our Halloween-themed fundraiser will spotlight our original children’s book, The Fair Housing Five & The Haunted Mansion, which chronicles the adventures of five young fair housing advocates’ work to uncover housing discrimination in their neighborhood.

In addition to kids’ activities and an interactive reading of the book, we’ll have a cash bar and an auction of original art from New Orleans’ own Sharika Mahdi.

The event is sponsored by EMH Consulting and Irpino, Avin & Hawkins Law Firm and your ticket will help youth throughout Louisiana understand the importance of defending fair housing.

We have a limited number of free tickets for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering contact Renee Corrigan rcorrigan@gnofairhousing.org or (504) 717-4571.

GNOFHAC is Co-Hosting Bring Your Own!

uninhabitable

The popup storytelling series Bring Your Own invites people to share moving, thought provoking, humorous stories about their extraordinary everyday lives based on a particular theme. October’s theme is “Uninhabitable” and will feature stories on substandard housing and negligent landlords in New Orleans.

Join us at the Radical Arts and Healing Collective at 1340 Montegut at 7:30 on October 20th to listen to (or share your own) stories. The event is free and open to the public, but please email bringyourownstories@gmail.com if you would like to tell your own story.
