Tell Congress to Fund Fairness and Opportunity

Posted on 12. Feb, 2016 by

This week, President Obama released a budget that takes bold steps toward building fairness into our housing market and addressing the affordability crisis. If you believe a family’s zip code should not determine their life outcomes, then join us and sign your organization on to a letter asking Members of Congress to fund these vital programs.

The President’s budget advances equity and opportunity through a number of housing and community development programs. Join us in calling on our Louisiana delegation to:

  • Fully fund fair housing to promote robust, inclusive communities through enforcement of the Fair Housing Act and promote implementation of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule.
  • Support a $2.1 billion overall nationwide increase in housing programs focused on ending family homelessness by 2020.
  • Improve access to fair housing through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
  • Fund Mobility Demonstration programs to provide families with Housing Choice Vouchers (“Section 8”) the chance to move to higher-opportunity neighborhoods. To read more about housing choice for New Orleanians in the voucher program, click here.

Funding these essential programs will begin to create an equal playing field for all Louisiana residents. Please sign your organization on to ensure our Congressional delegation hears this call for equality and opportunity for all.

Thank you for signing on for Fair Housing! One more step–please also join us insigning a national letter calling on Congress to increase overall funding for the budgets of the Departments of Transportation and Housing.
