D08_088_102Beginning with his pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement, Julian Bond – an expert on diversity in the law – has always been on the cutting edge of social change and leadership. Legendary as the first black US vice presidential nominee and former Chairman of the NAACP, Bond continues to deliver a powerful message of equality, freedom, and justice with a renewed sense of relevance.

Founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, he organized voting drives and sit-ins. An elected member of the Georgia House of Representatives, Bond was denied his seat by legislators until the intervention of the United States Supreme Court.

A first-hand eyewitness to many watershed moments in the history of the Civil Rights Movement, Bond will speak on the centuries-long struggle of African-Americans for equality, the fight for fair housing, and civil rights moving into the future. Read more about Julian Bond here.

The Fit for King Conference will reflect on the Center’s past accomplishments, monumental legal battles, and overall impact throughout the last 20 years. The conference will also explore the future of pursuing fair housing protections for all in Louisiana using policy, education, homeownership, and enforcement.

The Fit for King Conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Stay up to date on speakers, the agenda, and sponsors at
