Summer Law Clerk Job Announcement

Posted on 30. Jan, 2014 by

Description: The Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center (GNOFHAC) seeks dedicated, motivated, and talented law students for summer 2014 internships.

About GNOFHAC: GNOFHAC is a private, non-profit civil rights organization that was established in the summer of 1995 to eradicate housing discrimination throughout the greater New Orleans area through education, investigation, and enforcement activities. GNOFHAC is dedicated to fighting housing discrimination not only because it is illegal, but also because it is a divisive force that perpetuates poverty, segregation, ignorance, fear, and hatred.

Roles and Responsibilities: Summer law clerks assist GNOFHAC attorneys with the investigation and enforcement of fair housing complaints. Work may involve all aspects of litigation, including client intake, performing legal research, conducting factual investigation, drafting memoranda and motions, analyzing discovery materials, attending court proceedings, and preparing briefs. Law clerks may also assist with community outreach events designed to educate the public about their fair housing rights.

Summer law clerks are expected to work at least 10 weeks (though we will consider fewer than 10 weeks on a case-by-case basis). GNOFHAC offers an informal, collegial work environment.

Pay and Academic Credit: Law clerk positions are unpaid. However, we are willing to work with you to complete any paperwork that may be required to obtain outside funding or academic credit.

How to Apply: Please submit a resume, cover letter, and writing sample to Aurora Bryant via email at Applications will be accepted until April 15, 2014, but individuals are encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience, as applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
